4:58 a.m.
I walk in, eyes barely open.
The night manager greets me at the door,
his face worn from a full shift.
“Hey Tyler, how are you?”
“I’m doing well, what about you?”
“Living the dream…”
He says this all with a smile,
a smile I can tell covers his true feelings,
as this is obviously neither of our dreams.
I’d like to know,
what could his dream be, if not this?
What could his dream be? Anything but this.
But that doesn’t matter,
what does matter,
is that a new day is upon us.
A new day is here to be seized.
A new day to learn something new.
A new day to take one step closer to our dreams.
